Announcing the React Native Expo Kit - an Open Source Kit for Makerkit apps

We're excited to announce the release of the React Native Expo Kit - an Open Source Kit for Makerkit apps. It's a fully-functional React Native app that allows you to build and deploy your SaaS using Expo.

In Makerkit's quest to open source more and help more people in their quest to build and ship a fully functional SaaS with our Starter Kits, we're excited to announce the release of the React Native Expo Kit - an Open Source Kit for Makerkit apps.

The React Native Expo Kit is meant to be a companion kit to the Turbo Starter Kits. While it still lacks team-based functionality, it's a starter that does the heavy-lifting for many of common tasks, such as:

  • Infrastructure setup (Expo, Turborepo, Nativewind, TypeScript, ESLint, Prettier, etc.)
  • Authentication
  • Protected Routes
  • User Management (update profile, update password, etc.)

Should I purchase a license to use this Kit?

No - this Kit is free and open source. Anybody can use it.

Do I require Makerkit Pro to use this Kit?

While this kit is meant to look and feel like the Pro kits, you can use it as a standalone kit.

Why a new Kit?

Many Makerkit customers have asked us how t create a React Native app alongside their Makerkit SaaS. For a long time, I didn't have a good answer for that, so I've been wanting to fix that for a while now.

This kit will look and feel just like the Pro kits, guaranteeing a seamless experience for your users.

Is this Kit going to be maintained?

Yes - you can expect to see regular updates to the Kit.

The most important part of it is to add support for team-based functionality. Billing may also be an important part of the future of this Kit.

Can I get support for this Kit?

This kit is free and open source, not tied to the license you may have purchased. You can use it for free, and if you want to support the development of this kit, you can do so on GitHub.

However, no support will be provided for this kit. Please use the Github Issues to report any bugs, but I can't guarantee a timely response nor a fix.

Will you release a paid version of this Kit?

Not sure yet!

How do I get started with this Kit?

I'm excited to see what you build with this Kit! Please follow the documentation to get started.

Can't wait to see what you build with this Kit!
