Introducing the Makerkit UI Storybook

Dec 10, 2022

Announcing the Makerkit UI Storybook: a collection of all the components that make up the Makerkit kits. You can use this to see how the components work and to get inspiration for your own projects.

We are excited to announce the Makerkit UI Storybook. This is a collection of all the components that make up the Makerkit UI. You can use this to see how the components work and to get inspiration for your own projects.

What is Storybook?

Storybook is an open source tool for developing UI components in isolation, which can improve component reuse, testability, and development speed. It allows you to browse a component library, view the different states of each component, and interactively develop and test components.

Where can I find the Makerkit UI Storybook?

You can find the Makerkit UI Storybook at https://ui.makerkit.dev.

It still early days for the Makerkit UI, so I am working hard on writing more documentation and examples so to help you use the Makerkit components in your projects.

If you have any suggestions for components you would like to see, please let us know in the Makerkit Discord.

What will you be working on next?

My goals for the Makerkit UI are to:

  • providing a more consistent and accessible UI for all the kits
  • document all the components and how to use them in a better way, and I do think the Storybook will greatly help with this
  • break more components into many smaller components, so that they can be used in more places and be more flexible
  • ultimately, adding more components to the Makerkit UI, so to be a standalone UI kit

Conclusion

I hope the Makerkit UI Storybook can be helpful in its current state already. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let us know in the Makerkit Discord.

Ciao!
